This month marked my 5th year performing at the legendary Trumpet Jazz Club in Bilston. It’s always an honour and a privilege singing at this intimate, classy and gorgeous venue and I feel truly blessed to be working with such wonderful musicians every month.
A wonderful way to start the New Year, recording at Gospel Oak Studios with 2 of the loveliest, talented ladies – Julianne Bourne and Rebecca Rose (The Rosebourne Duo). Special thanks to Julianne for her amazing string arrangements and Recording Engineer Barry Bayliss for another really productive and enjoyable session.
Lovely to be back at The Greenway Hotel in Cheltenham with Neil Hunter – piano, Stuart Barker – upright bass and Spencer Hedges – drums. A lovely way to see in 2019 and the perfect end to a great year!
A most enjoyable and well attended gig at the Club this month. Backed by a fabulous band consisting of Richard Jones – piano, David Williams – guitar, Ian Hill – saxes, Wayne Matthews – bass and Dave Anderson – drums, we performed a combination of jazz, swing, blues and Latin standards and a selection of my compositions from my forthcoming album ‘Every Sunrise’ which were very well received. Well done and congrats to all who contribute to the running of the club and its ongoing success – long may it continue! Photo credit – Nigel Hall.
I felt truly honoured to be asked to contribute a song to this charity compilation album in aid of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and to perform at The Rialto Ballroom, alongside some of the regions finest musicians and singers at the album launch in November. Thanks so much to guitarist David Williams for his accompaniment and for playing my compositions so beautifully!
A hugely successful 2 days recording at Ian Riley Studios – the 3rd phase of my project ‘Every Sunrise’. Thanks again to Richard Jones – piano and Fender Rhodes, Mike Green – electric and upright bass and Jim Bashford – drums for a thoroughly enjoyable recording session.
Huge thanks to Big Bear Music – the organisers of the Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell Jazz Festival for inviting me to perform at 5 venues throughout the region. Now into its 34th year, the Festival gets bigger and better every year and has developed into one of the undoubted highlights of the West Midlands cultural calender. Thank you to pianists Richard Jones, John Hodgetts and Neil Hunter for accompanying me superbly!
The 2nd phase of my project ‘Every Sunrise’ took place at Sansom Studios. A huge pleasure and honour to record my compositions with some of the regions finest musicians – Richard Jones on piano and Fender Rhodes, Mike Green on electric and upright bass and Jim Bashford on drums.
